Traffic Problems Begin Ahead of Thunder Over Louisville

Traffic Problems Begin Ahead of Thunder Over Louisville

JEFFERSONVILLE, IN (WAVE) - Thunder Over Louisville is less than 24 hours away, and the road closures are already causing traffic problems in Clark County.

Pictures taken this morning show bumper to bumper traffic on the ramps from downtown Jeffersonville to Interstate 65 north.  Traffic was slow moving, thanks in part to the closure of the Clark Memorial Bridge. The bridge closed after rush hour Thursday morning so that crews could begin work on installing fireworks for Thunder Over Louisville. They will not re-open the bridge until Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the afternoon. The Kennedy bridge will close Saturday night at 9:00 p.m. for the Thunder fireworks show, and re-open when the show is completed.

You can find a complete list of road closures on WAVE3.com.

Public gives input on Ohio River Bridges

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – The heated debate over the Ohio River Bridges project continues.

Monday, the Ohio River Bridges Authority held a meeting for the public to learn more about the project, and give their input.  Those thoughts were transcribed, the Authority saying it could hear from a lot more people that way.

It comes as a group against tolls has put up billboards telling drivers that if tolls are used to pay for the bridges, you’ll be pre-paying for a long time.

Supporters say with high unemployment and low interest rates, the time to start building is now.

The Bridges Authority will review all the comments gathered at the meeting.  A final plan for the bridges, including whether and where you will have to pay tolls, and how much they could be, is expected by the end of the year.

Indiana Drivers Out of Luck if Debris Strikes your Windshield on Kentucky Highways.

Indiana Drivers Out of Luck if Debris Strikes your Windshield on Kentucky Highways.

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Sometimes defensive driving isn't enough. Recently, I was driving along I-65 behind a United Dynamics truck.  When the truck hit a bump, concrete dust and chunks of rock flew out of the back of the truck striking my windshield multiple times. I now have a large spider web crack in my windshield.
