JEFFERSONVILLE, IN – Greater Clark County Schools is pleased to announce the hiring of Derek Ellis as the new Jeffersonville High School varsity baseball coach. Mr. Ellis has been involved with the Jeffersonville High School baseball program as an assistant coach and advisor since 2008. Jeffersonville High School Director of Athletics Lisa Stemler stated, “There were a lot of quality candidates for this position and I believe Coach Ellis will be a great fit for the Jeffersonville High School baseball program.”
Derek Ellis is a Jeffersonville High School graduate and former Indiana State University baseball team captain and starting shortstop. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from ISU in 1989. Mr. Ellis was the manager of the 2008 Little League World Series Team from Jeffersonville, Indiana (Great Lakes). He has also served as the Jeffersonville/GRC Little League coach for the past ten years earning state championships in 2007 and 2008, as well as reaching the final four in 2006 and 2009.
Derek Ellis stated, “I am honored and humbled to be named the next head baseball coach at Jeffersonville High School. Great things are happening in our program and I feel blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of it. I am excited about the future of Jeffersonville baseball and can’t wait to get started.”
