Mock bus crash prepares emergency responders

The drill involved surrounding fire, EMS and police agencies.

FLOYD COUNTY, IN (WAVE) - A mock bus accident was held Friday at Floyd Central High School.

The special training exercise occurred to help prepare emergency responders in the event of a serious bus crash. High school students played a part in the drill, posing as passengers on the bus.

Police: New Albany mother died after drowning children

NEW ALBANY, IN - The mother who was discovered dead with her two young children in a New Albany creek killed them before she drowned, according to New Albany police.'

Police say Jaime Clutter died from hypothermia and drowning, but they are not exactly sure if she committed suicide or if her death was accidental. 

No matter the case, it's a heartbreaking situation that has impacted a community.  

"As a mother and a grandmother, I felt I had to get some closure over the tragedy in our community," said Cynthia Schultz who lives in New Albany. 

Police to release new information in Clutter family deaths

Jaime, Brandon and Katelyn Clutter were found dead in a New Albany creek in March.

NEW ALBANY, IN – Police are expected to release new information on Friday regarding the deaths of a woman and her two young children. Their nude bodies were found March 13 in a creek that runs through New Albany's Binford Park.

New Albany Police Chief Sherri Knight will hold a news conference at 10:30 Friday morning to discuss the department's investigation into the deaths of Jaime Clutter, 35, Brandon Clutter, 10, and Katelyn Clutter, 6 months.

Prosecutors have said the Clutter children drowned, but how they drowned has remained unclear as has the cause of Jaime Clutter's death.

New Albany, IN - New Albany Floyd County Schools (NAFCS) announces that Floyd Central High School, Highland Hills Middle School, Floyds Knobs Elementary, Georgetown Elementary and Greenville Elementary were all named Four Star Schools for 2011-2012 by the Indiana Department of Education. 

To be designated as a Four Star School, a school must rank in the top 25th percentile of schools in ISTEP+ testing results.  Only 313 schools in Indiana are Four Star Schools for the current year.

"I am so proud of our students, teachers, support personnel and leadership teams.  This is the most Four Star designations NAFCS has ever earned," said Dr. Bruce Hibbard, Superintendent, NAFC Schools.

Louisville Metro Parks to host MLB skills youth competition

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Louisville Metro Parks and Recreation will host Pitch, Hit and Run™, the official youth skills competition of Major League Baseball®, presented by Scotts® at Wyandotte and California parks on Friday, May 17.

This grassroots program is designed to provide kids with an opportunity to compete—free of charge—in a competition that recognizes individual excellence in core baseball/softball skills.

The competition on May 17 will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at two area parks:
