Louisville, Ky. - Actor, filmmaker and entrepreneur, Louisville native Joda Pyle has returned to his hometown and is pleased to announce that the GOOMBY Gallery is now open at 414 Baxter Avenue (the Radford Bldg. at the intersection of Baxter Ave. and Lexington Rd. next to Baxter Jacks).

The GOOMBY Gallery focuses on “street art” and will offers “hipster” apparel and avant-garde accessories as well as GOOMBY skateboard decks. The Grand opening will feature the works of Louisville artist Braylyn Resko Stewart, who is best known for his unique murals, graffiti art and tattoos. A portion of sales during the month of December will go to Be Gracious (www.begracious.org) for Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.

Joda, now 29, left Louisville right after graduating from Providence High School in 2001 and headed to NYC to begin his acting career and eventually ended up in Hollywood.

Friday’s restaurants, announces their third annual Can For A Fan virtual food drive benefitting 9 regional food banks. T.G.I. Friday’s in the greater Louisville, KY area will donate one can of food to the Dare to Care Food Bank for each new Louisville local Facebook fan at Facebook.com/EatAtTGIFridays.

LOUISVILLE, KY – For the convenience of parents, the University of Louisville Physicians-Pediatric Eye Specialists will hold a clinic for children from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Dec. 8. This special clinic will be held at the Kentucky Lions Eye Center (KLEC) location, 301 E. Muhammad Ali Blvd. at Floyd Street. Free parking is available in the KLEC parking lot.

Appointments can be made in advance by calling 502-852-7818. UofL Physicians-Pediatric Eye Specialists sees patients from birth to age 18.

LG&E and KU accepting grant applications to fund qualified tree-planting projects

Louisville, Ky. — Applications are now available for "Plant for the Planet" grants from Louisville Gas and Electric Company and Kentucky Utilities Company to fund qualified tree-plantings by nonprofit or government entities.

The program awards matching grants in amounts of $500 to $5,000 to organizations with a history of successful tree plantings in the LG&E and KU service territories.

"Plant for the Planet has helped sustain and beautify a variety of sites, from mature woodlands to busy highways," said Laura Douglas, Vice President of Corporate Responsibility and Community Affairs for LG&E and KU.
